USA: A Powerhouse Panel on Gender Equity in Sport 

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the United States.'s landmark Title IX legislation, the Department of State, will present on April 18 a panel discussion following a screening of the award-winning feature film "King Richard". 
The panel discussion will touch on the importance of creating a culture of equity and inclusion within both global sport and society.

  • Dawn Porter, whose new documentary series “37 Words” covers the history of gender discrimination in sport, will moderate a discussion with the legendary Billie Jean King on the history and continued fight for increased gender equity in sport, and Katrina Adams, a former CEO of the U.S. Tennis Association and current Vice President of the International Tennis Federation

The discussion is a 45 min panel discussion on gender equity through sport with live Q&A ( at 6 pm Burundi time) whereby Billie Jean-King, a former world No.1 tennis player and advocate for gender equity in sport, Katrina Adams, a sports executive and former professional tennis player who became in 2015 the first African-American and youngest President of the United States Tennis Association and Dawn Porter Award-winning filmmaker Dawn Porter who has emerged in the entertainment industry as a leader in the art of storytelling and directing and producing critically acclaimed projects that have impacted generations of people from all walks of life will discuss on gender equity in sport.
